The 5 Love Languages
If you have never taken The 5 Love Languages Quiz, I do highly recommend taking it so you can see what works best for you. Although you likely have a few ways that you enjoy giving and receiving love, the 5 different love languages are:
Acts of Service
Quality Time
Words of Affirmation
Gifts
Physical Touch
Is your Love Language or your partner's Love Language Physical Touch? Did you know there's more to physical touch that just sex? It's somethings as simple as a hug after a long day, a massage before bed, or just a gentle squeeze of the hand to let them know you are there. Simple yet so meaningful.
Five weeks ago, I gave a good overview of The 5 Love Languages, and I’ve linked the video below in case you didn’t get a chance to watch it.
Four weeks ago I went over more details about how Acts of Service shows up in relationships, and I’ve linked to that video below.
Three weeks ago I talked about how Quality Time shows up in relationships, and I’ve linked to that video below.
Two weeks ago I did my blog on ways that Words of Affirmation play in role in giving and receiving love. I have that video below.
And last week, I talked about Gifts and how you can use the to show your love in a relationship.
Physical Touch
This week I’m continuing my series on The 5 Love Languages by talking about the importance of physical touch in a relationship. I do hope this will give you some ideas of how to show love through touch, and I hope this series on The 5 Love Languages has helped you to understand more about how you can use The 5 Love Languages to create a healthy relationship.
Discover ways you can show your husband or partner that you love them through physical touch. It can be kissing and more intimate situations but it also is very much so not about just sex. In my latest video I talk about how physical touch shows up in your relationship and how to use this love language to build a healthy and thriving relationship.
Clients often think that physical touch has to mean sex, and although it can include sexual things, I try to help them reframe their thinking to encompass all types of physical touch. Maybe your partner has been working hard all day doing yard work. Could you give them a back rub to soothe their sore muscles before going to bed? Even taking a few seconds to give them a hug after you both get home for the day can be a way to maintain the feeling of being physically connected. Another great idea is to just reach over and hold their hand while driving in the car. These small acts of physical affection can go a long way in making someone feel like they matter to you.

Relationship Communication Workshop Updates
I have created an online Relationship Communication Workshop to help you dig into the communication struggles in your relationship and start getting things back on track. I have had a number of participants submit reviews and suggestions of different lessons that would be a great addition to the workshop. I want this to be as helpful as possible, so I have decided to listen to the feedback and expand the course to include even more relationship guidance.
There is an entire section that will be devoted to understanding even more about the love languages. I will also be providing you with more details into how to manage them in relationships.
I realize that not everyone wants to go through long-term therapy or the process of getting to a therapy appointment may not fit into your busy schedule. That's why I created this course. I wanted to provide you with a way to get access to the tools my clients get from me in my practice, but you can access the material from the comfort of your own home or wherever you are.
