Find Your Attachment Style

There are many different quizzes and assessments geared towards helping you find your attachment style. As with all assessments, the results are to be used as a guide to better understand yourself and how you show up in the world. Specifically, knowing your attachment style can be a super helpful tool when understanding how you show up in your relationship.

I really like the Personal Development School’s attachment style quiz, and if you’d like to know your type, you can take a free assessment at the following link: https://attachment.personaldevelopmentschool.com/

In my soon-to-relaunch Relationship Communication Workshop, there is an entire section that will be devoted to understanding even more about these attachment styles and how to manage them in relationships. After the first round of the workshop was completed, I received a number of questions about the attachment styles and requests for more information, so I decided to incorporate them into the workshop.

Understanding Anxious Preoccupied Attachment

If you have an anxious preoccupied attachment type, the following characteristics are likely to be true about you:

  • You seem to have a negative view of yourself and a positive view of others.

  • You may find that your romantic partner and/or your loved ones pull away from you.

  • You want to be emotionally intimate with others, but you find that others aren’t getting as close to you as you would like

  • You are uncomfortable if you don’t have close relationships, but you worry that others don't value you as much as you value them.

  • You may find yourself seeking intimacy, approval, and responsiveness from those you are attached to.

  • You can become overly dependent on the person/people you’re attached to.

  • You may feel anxiousness that decreases when in contact with someone you feel attached to.

  • You may doubt your worthiness and engage in self-blaming if someone doesn’t want to or doesn’t attach to you like you are wanting.

  • You may struggle with high levels of emotions that need to be expressed outwardly.

  • You may struggle with regulating your emotions and require soothing.

  • You may be impulsive in your relationships.

In the following video, I dig into the anxious preoccupied attachment style even more to give you more details about how it shows up.

Relationship Communication Workshop Updates

I have created an online Relationship Communication Workshop to help you dig into the communication struggles in your relationship and start getting things back on track. During the past month, I have had a number of participants submit reviews and suggestions of different lessons that would be a great addition to the workshop. I want this to be as helpful as possible, so I have decided to listen to the feedback and expand the course to include even more relationship guidance.

I realize that not everyone wants to go through long-term therapy or the process of getting to a therapy appointment may not fit into your busy schedule. That's why I created this course. I wanted to provide you with a way to get access to the tools my clients get from me in my practice, but you can access the material from the comfort of your own home or wherever you are.
